<p><strong>Job Title: Fully Remote Accountant – CapEx</strong></p><p><strong>Job Description</strong></p><p>This fully remote Accountant – CapEx role focuses on managing high-volume capital expenditure (CapEx) activities, ensuring accurate capitalization versus operating expense treatment, and supporting a timely and accurate month-end close. You will work with NetSuite across multiple subsidiaries, leverage advanced Excel skills for analysis and reporting, and contribute to strong financial reporting and balance sheet integrity in a large public company environment.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Review a high volume of CapEx and construction-in-progress (CIP) invoices to ensure accurate coding and capitalization in accordance with company policies and accounting standards.</li><li>Determine appropriate treatment of costs as capital expenditures versus operating expenses (OpEx), applying sound accounting judgment and clearly documenting decisions.</li><li>Maintain and reconcile fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation, to ensure completeness and accuracy.</li><li>Perform general ledger activities such as journal entries, account reconciliations, and variance analysis related to CapEx, fixed assets, and related accounts.</li><li>Support and participate in the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate posting of CapEx-related entries and preparation of supporting schedules.</li><li>Contribute to financial reporting by preparing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and analyses related to CapEx, CIP, and fixed assets.</li><li>Use NetSuite to manage accounting activities across multiple subsidiaries, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and proper intercompany treatment where applicable.</li><li>Leverage advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs, to analyze large data sets, support job costing, and create clear, insightful reports.</li><li>Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as operations and finance, to gather information, clarify project details, and support accurate job costing and project accounting.</li><li>Apply knowledge of large public company processes, controls, and reporting requirements to maintain a strong control environment and support audit requests as needed.</li><li>Continuously identify opportunities to improve processes related to CapEx accounting, fixed asset management, and month-end close efficiency.</li><li>If applicable, utilize any prior data center experience to better understand project structures, asset categories, and cost drivers in a data center environment.</li></ul><p><strong>Essential Skills</strong></p><ul><li>4–8+ years of accounting experience with increasing responsibility.</li><li>Strong experience in CapEx accounting, including a clear understanding of capitalization versus operating expenses and the ability to make sound accounting judgments.</li><li>Hands-on experience with high-volume CapEx and CIP invoice review.</li><li>Proficiency with NetSuite, including experience working with multiple subsidiaries.</li><li>Experience with the month-end close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules.</li><li>Solid understanding of fixed asset accounting, including depreciation, disposals, and transfers.</li><li>Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.</li><li>Experience working in a large public company environment, with familiarity with controls and reporting requirements.</li><li>Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field.</li><li>Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, financial reporting, and balance sheet reconciliation.</li><li>Ability to work effectively and independently in a fully remote environment.</li></ul><p><strong>Additional Skills & Qualifications</strong></p><ul><li>Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.</li><li>Experience in public accounting.</li><li>Experience with job costing and project accounting.</li><li>Experience in a data center environment is beneficial but not required.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide clear recommendations.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all financial records and reports.</li><li>Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams in a remote setting.</li><li>Proactive approach to process improvement and the ability to adapt to evolving business needs.</li></ul><p><strong>Work Environment</strong></p><p>This position is 100% fully remote, offering flexibility in work location while maintaining a professional, results-driven environment. You will work extensively with NetSuite and Microsoft Excel to manage accounting activities across multiple subsidiaries. Collaboration with colleagues and stakeholders occurs through virtual tools and online communication platforms, and you are expected to maintain a reliable remote workspace that supports focused, independent work and effective virtual collaboration.</p><strong>Job Type & Location</strong><p>This is a Contract position based out of New York, NY.</p><strong>Pay and Benefits</strong><p>The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr.</p><p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
