Senior Platform & Security Engineer

With $70M in annual revenue and $3B+ in annual transaction volume, we're entering a new stage of growth focused on scaling our core banking systems, rewards infrastructure, and partner integrations.</p><p style="min-height:1.5em">We're seeking a Senior Platform & Security Engineer to own the infrastructure, reliability, and security that everything we build runs on. All required travel will be paid for by Taekus.</p><div style="min-height:1.2em;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0"> </div><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>Your Responsibilities</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Own and unify the platform and infrastructure that powers our core products and services.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Treat our engineers as your customers—build the tooling, paved roads, and self-service workflows that let them ship quickly and safely.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Own CI/CD and release automation, keeping the path to production fast, reliable, and observable.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Own feature-flag, configuration, and secrets infrastructure, along with the reliability of our background-job, caching, and queue systems (Celery, Redis, RabbitMQ).</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Improve observability and operational health across services through structured logging, error monitoring, and APM, and share in the on-call rotation for platform and infrastructure services.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Own the platform's security guardrails—secrets management, IAM and access control, PCI/PII data handling, and vulnerability management.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Own and automate compliance and audit readiness (PCI-DSS, SOC 2, partner security reviews), coordinating external auditors and making the process repeatable.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Set technical direction for platform and security, driving toward infrastructure-as-code over time.</p></li></ul><div style="min-height:1.2em;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0"> </div><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>What We're Looking For</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">6+ years of professional engineering experience, with a strong platform, infrastructure, or backend focus.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Deep, hands-on AWS experience (EKS/Kubernetes, EC2, Lambda, RDS) in high-availability production environments.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Strong CI/CD and release-engineering background, with containerization using Docker and Kubernetes, and a track record of building tooling that improves developer experience (Terraform a plus).</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Comfort working in a Python/Django codebase (Celery, Redis, PostgreSQL), able to read and contribute to platform code.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Experience with modern observability and monitoring tooling across logging, error tracking, and APM.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">A security-minded engineer fluent in secrets management, IAM/access control, and dependency hygiene, ideally with hands-on PCI-DSS or SOC 2 experience.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.</p></li></ul><div style="min-height:1.2em;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0"> </div><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>You’d Love This Job If</strong></p><ul style="min-height:1.5em"><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You want to establish and own a platform and security function from the ground up.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You'd rather automate security and compliance than grind through them by hand.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You enjoy contributing across the code base where needed.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You want to be in a scaling startup that is experiencing exponential growth.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You're excited by building foundational work and enjoy making an impact.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">Traveling is in your DNA and you get to apply your passion into your work.</p></li><li><p style="min-height:1.5em">You thrive in growing high-caliber teams and want to influence both technical and strategic direction.</p></li></ul><div style="min-height:1.2em;margin-top:0;margin-bottom:0"> </div><p style="min-height:1.5em"><strong>About Taekus</strong></p><p style="min-height:1.5em">Taekus is a 6-year-old luxury financial services company that offers travel rewards credit cards, debit cards, and other banking services for the affluent market.
