Client builds infrastructure for payments across global markets. Its modular, flexible, and scalable technology enables leading companies to accept next-generation payments, provide a wide range of payout options, and leverage capabilities across card issuing, banking, risk, and fraud management services.</p><p>We are seeking a Senior Data Engineer to support a large-scale modernization of a global clearing and settlement platform. The role involves re-architecting legacy data pipelines, enabling AI-assisted migration, and building scalable, secure, and high-performance data systems for transaction processing, reporting, and settlement workflows.</p><p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Design and modernize complex ETL/ELT pipelines currently built on legacy systems for payments and settlement processing</li><li>Support migration of high-volume financial file systems (~68 daily files, 50+ formats) into a modern cloud-based architecture</li><li>Build scalable data ingestion frameworks for batch and near real-time transaction processing</li><li>Work on data transformation, validation, reconciliation, and file generation logic for clearing and settlement workflows</li><li>Collaborate on replacing legacy processor-based systems with a modern internal settlement engine</li><li>Implement data security, encryption (AES-256), tokenization, and PCI-compliant data handling practices</li><li>Enable AI-assisted data migration and intelligent file parsing using modern data engineering techniques</li><li>Work closely with product, architecture, and business teams to ensure accuracy of financial data flows and reporting systems</li><li>Optimize data pipelines to reduce latency, operational overhead, and processing costs (target ~60% efficiency improvement)</li></ul><p><strong>Requirements:</strong></p><ul><li>7–12 years of experience in Data Engineering or Data Platform roles</li><li>Strong expertise in Python, SQL, and distributed data processing systems</li><li>Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, AWS, Azure, or GCP)</li><li>Strong knowledge of ETL frameworks, data modeling, and batch/stream processing</li><li>Experience handling high-volume transactional or financial data systems</li><li>Understanding of data security, encryption, and compliance standards (PCI preferred)</li><li>Experience working with file-based ingestion systems (SFTP, APIs, event-driven pipelines)</li><li>Familiarity with data governance, reconciliation, and auditability requirements</li></ul><p><strong>Desirable: </strong></p><ul><li>Experience in payments, fintech, or banking clearing/settlement systems</li><li>Knowledge of Kafka, Flink, or real-time streaming architectures</li><li>Exposure to AI/ML-assisted data transformation or LLM-based automation</li><li>Experience with legacy system modernization programs</li><li>Familiarity with HSMs, tokenization systems, and merchant acquiring flows</li></ul><p><strong>What`s in it for you?</strong></p><ul><li>Strong community: Work alongside top professionals in a friendly, open-door environment</li><li>Growth focus: Take on large-scale projects with a global impact and expand your expertise</li><li>Tailored learning: Boost your skills with internal events (meetups, conferences, workshops), Udemy access, language courses, and company-paid certifications</li><li>Endless opportunities: Explore diverse domains through internal mobility, finding the best fit to gain hands-on experience with cutting-edge technologies</li><li>Flexibility: Enjoy flexibility – full remote working possibilities</li><li>Care: We’ve got you covered with company-paid medical insurance, mental health support, and financial & legal consultations</li></ul><p><strong>About us:</strong></p><p>At Ciklum, we are always exploring innovations, empowering each other to achieve more, and engineering solutions that matter.
