POSITION INTRODUCTIONThe City of Morgantown Marketing Coordinator is a highly motivated strategic thinker and cross-functional marketer. Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Director, the Marketing Coordinator supports the Communications Department with the planning, executing, and tracking of marketing programs such as email, event, social media, or content marketing. The Marketing Coordinator develops and executes marketing, branding, and advertising plans and is responsible for drafting reports, creating and coordinating content, tracking results, and supporting all marketing strategies of the city and its affiliates.The ideal candidate will have prior experience with a wide range of marketing functions, including communications, advertising, branding, digital marketing, and social media. The marketing coordinator must be an organized multitasker able to handle many diverse projects at once and meet tight deadlines. Outstanding interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic are key personal attributes of the position. Individual performs related work and other duties as assigned.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS• Maintains social media and marketing projects for the Arts and Cultural Development, the City of Morgantown Airport and other departments/special events as needed;• Provides comprehensive design support, including graphic and digital design services, as well as the creation and development of marketing materials and strategic plans.• Responsible for promoting the Ruby Summer Concert Series by filming, photographing, and producing engaging social media content throughout the summer.• Develops targeted social media marketing plans to promote the Ruby Summer Concert Series, enhancing audience engagement and event visibility across digital platforms.• Provides weekend coverage (as needed) of special events, capturing key moments and generating timely content for digital and social media platforms.• Must be proficient in operating audiovisual equipment to record public meetings and special events, ensuring high-quality documentation and content production.• Must have working knowledge of podcast production and editing, including audio recording, mixing, and publishing across digital platforms.• Manages social media and marketing initiatives for the City of Morgantown, including the Arts and Cultural Development office, the Morgantown Municipal Airport, and other departments or special events as needed.• Assists with the preparation, implementation, and evaluation of marketing, branding and other integrated communication plans, campaigns and procedures using marketing strategies and theories; • Coordinates and serves as the point person in the execution of marketing initiatives;• Develops an understanding of audience segments and growth tactics;• Prepares or assists with the design and preparation of graphics compositions and layouts;• Assists with the designs, edits of marketing plans, reports, updates and other materials as assigned.• Develops and produces videos for marketing and promotion purposes;• Interface daily with city staff and other organizations to understand target needs and identify innovative marketing strategies to highlight city events, city performance venues, and local businesses;• Assists in the coordination of media relations for the City of Morgantown, writes news releases, media advisories, feature articles;• Assists in the coordination of public information and media relations during emergency management situations;• Posts public information and program information on the City's webpage;• Contributes to social media presence and daily management of Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.• Assists in the operation and maintenance of the government cable access channel to include live cable broadcasts, replays, and electronic information messages;• Effectively hosts and successfully participates in conferences and meetings;• Performs related work as required.• Other duties as assignedRequirementsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation: • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in strategic communications, marketing, advertising, or a related field required.Certification/License:• None Experience:• Between three to six years' experience is required. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS• Master's degree in communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Integrated Marketing Communications, Digital Marketing Communications or a related field.Salary Description Grade 5; Salary range begins at $19.59/hour.
