We’re Hiring: Field Robotics Engineer (Hybrid | Bay Area)

We’re looking for a hands-on Field Robotics Engineer who thrives at the intersection of hardware, software, and real-world deployment.

This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge autonomy technology—helping machines understand and navigate the world in real time using advanced sensor systems.

What You’ll Do

Prototype & Integrate

  • Design and build components (sensor mounts, housings, etc.) using CAD, 3D printing, and light machining
  • Integrate cameras, GNSS/RTK, IMUs, and compute systems into robotic platforms
Field Testing & Experimentation
  • Execute vehicle and drone test campaigns
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and refine systems in real-world environments
  • Collect and analyze sensor and telemetry data
  • Maintain hardware systems for reliability and repeatability
Customer-Facing Engineering
  • Support live demos for customers and partners
  • Translate real-world use cases into engineering requirements
  • Iterate quickly based on field feedback
Collaboration & Documentation
  • Create build guides, wiring diagrams, and test reports
  • Work cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and autonomy teams
  • Help coordinate contractors and external partners
What We’re Looking For
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience in robotics, hardware, or automation
  • Strong builder mindset—you enjoy working directly with physical systems
  • Experience with sensors (cameras, GPS/GNSS, IMUs) and embedded systems
  • Familiarity with CAD, Python, and/or C++
  • Comfortable working directly with customers and translating needs into solutions
Details
  • Location: Hybrid (Bay Area – Redwood City / Petaluma area)
  • Travel: ~20–40% (field testing and demos)
  • Compensation: $135K – $175K + equity
  • Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. Person (no sponsorship available)

Why Join?

You’ll be part of a small, high-impact team building real-world autonomy systems across industries like automotive, agriculture, healthcare, and more. If you enjoy fast iteration, field work, and turning prototypes into deployed systems, this role is for you.
