About the Role
Join a respected healthcare system in coastal Virginia as a Cardiothoracic Surgery Physician Assistant, supporting a collaborative and high-acuity surgical team. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced CT Surgery PA with first-assist and vein harvesting experience, while also offering consideration to strong new graduates with advanced cardiothoracic training.
You will provide care across the full surgical continuum, including OR assistance, perioperative management, ICU support, and outpatient follow-up.
Position Highlights
- Monday–Friday schedule, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
- Shared 1:2 call rotation
- Hospital and outpatient clinic setting
- Adult patient population (18+)
- Epic EMR (inpatient and outpatient)

This is an excellent opportunity for a Cardiothoracic Surgery PA seeking strong surgical exposure, collaborative mentorship, and the chance to grow within a high-performing cardiovascular program in coastal Virginia.
Job Responsibilities: • First-assist in cardiothoracic surgical procedures
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting (EVH) for CABG procedures
• Manage perioperative care in the OR, ICU, inpatient units, and clinic
• Coordinate follow-up care with patients and multidisciplinary teams
• Participate in shared call coverage and urgent surgical support
Qualifications: • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program
• NCCPA certification and eligible for Virginia PA licensure
• EVH/vein harvesting training required
• Experienced CT Surgery PAs strongly preferred
• Strong new graduates may be considered with advanced cardiothoracic and cardiac surgery training, including vein harvesting exposure
• Ability to function effectively in a high-acuity surgical environment
